The Ministry of Education's Secondary and Higher Education Division has officially issued the 'একাদশ শ্রেণিতে ভর্তির নীতিমালা' (XI Class Admission Policy) 2026-2027 (Memo No. 37.00.0000.067.14.01.2016-282, dated 24 August 2026), signed on behalf of the Secretary. Admission continues to be based solely on SSC/Dakhil or equivalent results with no admission test; students choose a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 college/madrasah preferences online. A schedule table attached to the policy (still labelled 'draft' pending a formal board notice under policy clauses 3.9 and 6.0) sets out: online application from 2 to 10 September 2026 (until 8:00 PM); a separate window on 12–13 September 2026 (until 8:00 PM) covering both students whose results change after SSC re-scrutiny and any applicant who wants to change their college preferences; publication of the selected-students' result on 17 September 2026 at 8:00 PM; a confirmation ('নিশ্চায়ন') deadline of 19 September 2026 at 8:00 PM, after which unconfirmed selections and applications are cancelled; admission processing from 20 to 22 September 2026; and classes beginning 23 September 2026 (Wednesday). The policy also newly specifies, for the 2026-2027 session only, quota seats of 1% for children of Ministry of Education staff, up to 2% total for staff of subordinate departments, and 5% for children/grandchildren of Freedom Fighters and Martyred Freedom Fighters. This schedule applies to the BUET-supported central system covering nearly all colleges and madrasahs except a few standalone institutions such as Notre Dame College, Holy Cross College, St. Joseph Higher Secondary School and St. Gregory's High School & College, each of which runs its own separate admission process.
GPA requirements and rules to apply.
Students who passed SSC, Dakhil or equivalent examination in the current year or the previous two years are eligible (policy clause 2.1). Admission is based on results only — there is no admission test. Minimum GPA requirements depend on the chosen group and education board, and individual colleges may set their own minimum above the national floor (policy clause 3.6).
